YaSloom’s Twisted Treeline 3v3 Tier List – Aatrox Era

3v3 cloth5

About Me (YaSloom) : I have 3 teams in top 5 Challenger 3v3 in EU-W. I have a wide experience in 3v3 due to playing with and against many other Challenger players. I have tried and seen a whole lot of team compositions and tactics in 3v3. You can find me on Facebook and YouTube.

Why are you making this tier list ? : I am making this tier list to share my experience on Twisted Treeline, and give everyone a general idea about the good champions on it.

This tier list is just my opinion from my experiences on Twisted Treeline and you don’t have to follow it. The champions in each tier are not organized in any order; champions in the same tier can be stronger than others, depending on your team composition and the enemy team composition.

The tier list has been divided into 4 roles based on the current Twisted Treeline metagame to make it easier for people to understand which roles champions can fill. Some champions can fill multiple roles but have varying degrees of effectiveness in different roles. Bolded champions are discussed in depth after the tier list.

Tier 4: Warwick, Shaco, Shen

Champions worth mentioning:

Aatrox: With just a BotRK, he can solo Vilemaw at any given point, even at low hp. He has amazing late game and his passive can be really strong in team fights. Aatrox is hard to gank in lane because of his Q (his jump), and his Q also works as a mini Malphite ult to engage team fights. The problem with him is that without his revive passive, he isn’t that much of a threat in team fights. He can be countered by hard cc and burst damage to deny his lifesteal.

AD Thresh: The more AD you build on him, the more magic damage you do with E’s passive. Thresh has a lot of cc and utility to the team and if you match him with a hard cc support (Leona, for example) the lane becomes truly terrifying.

Kayle: She is a really good all around champion, gives the team utility, damage, cc and her ultimate is really strong in team fights. She is banned or picked in almost every game at the Challenger level.

Why are Xin Zhao and Jarvan IV tier 1 supports?: At level 2, both Jarvan and Xin can apply heavy pressure to lanes, and they can easily force an enemy flash early on. When paired with another cc-based champion in lane you can get first blood easily. They don’t need items or gold to be effective, and they can initiate or disengage very effectively. Both are strong during all stages of the game, can bully the enemy jungler after pushing lane, and deny him jungle camps.

Karma: She is quite underrated at the moment, she gives AoE shield to the team and 60 % movement speed which is a great engaging and disengaging tool. She can kite melees really easily and the tight terrain in Twisted Treeline makes her Q really hard to dodge.

Annie: This little girl received several buffs over the patches and she is really strong right now in 3v3. Her AP scaling is quite high and her  2 second stun is really good in team fights.

Leona: One of the best supports in TT. Leona has 3 stuns (1 of them is AOE) and she can bully 2v1 lanes really hard as well as invade the jungler after pushing to make his life miserable. She can engage, disengage and protect high priority targets.

Kha’Zix: His changes in the last patch was actually a buff to him in 3v3.  His q damage is really strong, he can assassinate high priority targets very effectively, he is really hard to catch and he can kill Vilemaw extremely fast due to his passive and Q.

Change Log:

Janna was added to AP Mage category – Tier 2

What are your opinions on Rengar? My friend uses him to great effect on 3s. He can use his passive very well on this map. Along with the triple q it does amazing damage. Even though Lantern and Sweeper exist he is still very strong. Also what are counters to AoE team comps? My team normally runs Wukong, Amumu, and then Lissindra or Rumble. We rarely lose even to a Kayle and Tryndamere comps.

    • YaSloom

If you do a mistake early on he falls of really hard and there are better replacements out there such as kha’zix. Good disengage champions counter AOE team comps such as lulu, you also have to use the time period that their ults are down in your advantage. Kayle and tryndamere are extremely strong in the right hands, you probably haven’t seen good ones just yet :)

      • FearDaBeast

Also one more question do you take smite when jungling? I have been taking exhaust in its place as I find it’s much more useful.

        • YaSloom

Always take smite when jungling, if you don’t and you get counter jungled you will fall behind so much in both levels and gold. Basically no smite = no jungle or spider control.

I’m just wondering what makes the tier 1 junglers better than the tier 2. As in what can jarvan or xin do better than sejuani or amumu?

    • Selthor

Damage. For those particular champs that you mentioned, you have to be able to deal damage and secure kills on your own in 3 v 3. Amumu and Sejuani are lacking in that area.

    • YaSloom

Safer jungling and more early game pressure.

  • SaintEcho

I was just wondering why Fiora is T4? She seems like a strong pick in my opinion and the only thing she is lacking is a reliable escape. But if she has her ultimate ready (especially with a ravenous hydra) she is a huge threat. I say she belongs in T2 or MAAAYBE T3, but definately not T4. Just wondering what you have to say about it.

    • YaSloom

No cc and without her ult she is quite useless.

  • Wazousky

Hi, there is a severe lack of information about 3vs3, if you can fill that gap with your knowledge with constant updates you will be very famous :d
Already suscribed to your youtube channel :D hope to know more from you soon

    • YaSloom

I am writing a HUGE guide for 3v3 at the moment that will be released on cloth5 :) stay tuned !

  • MikeTDH

Hey! Really nice guide but i have a proposal for you. Can you please write like some team comps examples? Like what you often use, etc.

  • YaSloom

I often use Strong solo laner with late game potential for example (tryndamere, Ryze, Kayle) with a strong jungler who can wave clear and has cc for example ( Volibear, Udyr)
Also my other comp is an adc with a really aggressive support (Kayle with Xin or jarvan) and have a really strong pushing solo laner to invade enemy jungle and deny them camps and altar.

  • xtinct

What about Soraka as an AP Mage?

    • YaSloom

No mobility and she gets countered really hard with ignite, not a very good AP option.

Thanks for the great tier list btw.

A couple of quick questions. I see Irelia is in your top tier. I really like playing her but I’m often told by my ranked team to pick someone else (like Darius or Wukong). How would you build her and what team compositions does she fit well into?

    • YaSloom

-Irelia works pretty well in AOE comps. She basically fits in any team comp and a good Irelia player can win any lane.
      - A core item for her build is BOTRK because it offers all stats she needs.
      - Good options on her are Elder lizard- Bulwark – Spirit Visage – Wits End – SunFire – Omen – Ancient golem

Thx for this amazing article , but is there anyway u can make an article about explaining the different roles and strategies u can do in twisted treeline .(For example : You can explain for us the roles in twisted treeline and the benefits of hacing an adc bot or not to. )
Thx in advance i really hope u do an article thx lot

  • Rewetahw

Hi there, Yasloom! I was wondering about your opinion on Nautilus. It seems to me that he can clear camps fast, put pressure on whole enemy team (and even more with boots of mobility), his ganks are terrifying and his teamfight presence is just awesome! 4 CC on your team, put exhaust on him and it will be 5 CC abilities on one champion. His natural tankyness allows him to fulfill role of tank and support simultaneously. Can you tell me where I went wrong, please?

  • DutchPeeJay

Hi, I think zyra is the strongest ap mage, because she works so well with everything, she can follow up hard engage, probably has the best disengage in the game and just peels very nice if you have a squishy carry. I like the pick her over lissandra. Also I have a question, Kayle is rated best in a lot of categories, but when I try to play her I feel very useless until I get 3-4 items. Can you explain what makes her better then the other picks, because I don’t feel her ult is the strongest on the map.

  • tubbielicious

what about kennen ? why would you play him ad but not ap ?

  • Babypuke

I don’t agree that Rumble is T2, his ult is super easy to land in 3′s. He may be a champion that requires SOME mild thought when building your team composition to make sure he’s a good fit (you will want SOME hard CC on your team), but that’s the only real weakness if you can even call it one.

  • Valcx

I wonder what we could do to ameliorate a teamcomp … We use a Teemo and Kassadin lanes which are pretty much immovable since those players use pretty much always those champions. So i used Yorick jungle, that got us to gold with an impressive record but the game we lose is because we have a pretty poor early game. So i wonder what else other than Yorick would synergize with those 2 and i guess it need to be AD since the 2 others are AP.

Thanks for the help in advance.
